Katja Herbers has been a professional musician since she was a small girl. She is the daughter of Vera Beths (violinist) and Werner Herbers (oboist). As a child Katja Herbers went with her mother on a trip across America with the chamber ensemble L'Archibudelli. Her mother was remarried to cellist Anner Bylsma, and her father was remarried to costume designer Leonie Poliak, who introduced her to stage. As a child, she was an au pair from Canada, and could learn Dutch German and English. Herbers went to the Ignatius Gymnasium which is located in Amsterdam. Herbers completed her psychology studies in the University of Amsterdam. During her psychology studies she went to the local theater academy De Trap.
