The break came, however, when she played Emily Fields' role in Pretty Little Liars. Critics and fans both praised her for her talent. Mitchell went to Rockridge Secondary, before switching to West Vancouver Secondary. When she was in her teen years she worked with various modeling agencies across the globe. She travelled to Barcelona and Bangkok after which she returned to Toronto to study acting.
